📣 An important update from the Enigma Fellowship  —  read here

Continuing the example of FIRST = GKUWY, the difference between each of the five letters is:

  • G – F = 1
  • K – I = 2
  • U – R = 3
  • W – S = 4
  • Y – T = 5

This is like a shift cipher, but rather than adding the same number to each letter, the position of the letter in the text has been added to the letter itself. Since R is the 3rd letter in the text, 3 was added to R; thereby making it U.

Can you use this approach to decrypt the key, i.e. the 15th word?
