Hints – Chapter 2

Hint 1
The rainbow sheet has three ribbons on them.

What was the McThunder O’Shine talking about teaching the rainbow?

There is a poem about braiding on the back of the rainbow sheet.
Hint 3
The strings are of three colors – red, green and blue.
Hint 4
Rainbows have the colors red, green and blue in them too.
Hint 5

Three letters are marked in red, green and blue — just like the strings.

Place the strings of the matching colors on the letters themselves.

The configuration of the strings even looks like the poem from McThunder O’Shine (one thread to the left, and two to the right).

Red string on N; Blue string on W; Green string on O

Those are your first three letters of the spell.

Hint 6
The poem from McThunder O’Shine has instructions about braiding. Try to move the strings as the poem instructs, and collect the letter your string lands on.
Hint 7
The poem says that the far right string (green at the beginning), goes in between (i.e. between red and blue), besides the cousin far left (i.e. red string).

So move the green string next to the red string, placing it on H.

This is your next letter.

Hint 8
Next, the poem says that cousin feels the same (this is red, because you just landed next to it), and it goes to the far right’s inside (i.e. left of the blue one).

So move the red string to the left of the blue string, placing it on U.

This is your next letter.

Hint 9
Repeat the braiding pattern.

Move blue to G, then green to M and so on.

Hint 10
You still need to determine the order of the first three letters. What could help?

The rainbow has a color order, wherein the order goes Red -> Green -> Blue.

This is the color of the first three letters as well. So the order of the first three letters is determined by the order of the colors in the rainbow.

So the right order for the first three letters is N O W.

Solution
The first three letters are, O N W. You can obtain the correct order for these based on the order of the colors red, green and blue in the rainbow. This gives you first three letters N O W.

Then you need to braid using McThunder O’Shine’s poem as instructions:

  • Green ribbon goes from O to H.
  • Red ribbon goes from N to U.
  • Blue ribbon goes from W to G.
  • Green ribbon goes from H to M.
  • Red ribbon goes from U to E.

The solution is: NOWHUGME
