Hints

Hint 1
The sender of the postcard says that you should find them. So you need to figure out their location.

Did you notice that the blue block printing is similar to the one used on the envelope sent to Ms. Nicdao? So maybe the items in that envelope are related to this postcard in some way?

Hint 2

The postcard has cryptic text on the back; written in black and red letters. This might be the best place to start.

But to make sense of it, you will need to decipher it. So it seems you needย to find the alphabet which was used to encrypt the message.

Hint 3
The postcard also has symbols of card suits. Maybe this indicates that some cards are needed to decipher the message?

Did you find any cards in that envelope sent to Ms. Nicdao?

Hint 4
In the envelope sent to Ms. Nicdao, there are six cards with two parallel slits on them.

There is even a card with the entire English alphabet on it; the alphabet is written out on multiple lines with four letters each. It appears that since the last line could not contain more letters, dots were used to denote missing letters.

Hint 5
The card with the complete English alphabet was found inserted into one of the cards with the two parallel slits.
Hint 6
On the cards containing the slits, there seem to be some letters as well.ย There are two letters above each slit, and four letters below each slit.

Have you noticed that the two letters above the slit are alphabetically arranged, i.e. the letter on the left comes four letters before the letter on the right? For example,ย letter H on the left, and letter M on the right — missing letters in between are I, J, K, L.

Hint 7
There are four letters between the letter on the left side of the slit and the one on the right of the slit. (For example,ย letter H on the left, and letter M on the right — missing letters in between are I, J, K, L.)

The card with the complete English alphabet also has four letters in each line, and was found inserted into a card with slits.

Hint 8

Can you insert the card with the complete English alphabet into the slit in such a way so as to complete the four letters missing between the two above each slit?

Hint 9
Once you have the card placed in the slit such that the four missing letters show up, did you notice that for each missing letter there is now a corresponding letter that shows below as well?

Using the same example of H on the left of the slit, and M on the right; you insert the card and fill in the letter I, J, K and L. Then below the letters I, J, K and L you will see another set of letters. In the example above, I = A, J = L, K = B, L = F.

Can you use this information to decode the encrypted text on the postcard?

Hint 10
Once you have decrypted most of the cards, you will notice that you have in fact two decryption possibilities for each letter.

Can you group the decryption possibilities somehow?

Hint 11

Keep in mind that some of the encrypted text is red and some is black.

Hint 12
There are two decryptions for each letter, because the postcard requires a ‘red’ and a ‘black’ decryption.

There are 3 black suit (clubs and spades) card with slits, and 3 red suit (heart, diamond) with slits.

Can you use this to group the decryptions?

Hint 13
The next hint will reveal the decryption.
Hint 14
If you decode all 6 cards with slits, using the card with the full alphabet on it, then you will get the following decryptions:

Using these you can decode the message on the postcard.

Show Decrypted Text

Joker LIES BUT I AM

YOUR ALLY

GO TO HIGHEST CLUB

FOR THE TRUTH

Hint 15
The previous hint shows you the decrypted text.
Hint 16
The decrypted text said that you can find the sender at the highest club. You have probably tried, and this was not the location.

Maybe the front of the postcard can help you figure out where this highest club is?

Hint 17
The front side of the postcard has some Sonnburg buildings on it.ย Is there a way to find out the name of these buildings?
Hint 18
Were there any other cards in the envelope for Poppy Nicdao? Maybe they can help.
Hint 19

There are 4 more cards in the envelope each with two different names and barcodes on them.

Hint 20
Take a closer look at the buildings on the postcards. From top to bottom.
Hint 21
Did you find something common between those cards and the buildings?
Hint 22
Some of the buildings have barcodes that match those on the cards.
Hint 23
Make sure to choose the right building. Remember the note says “highest club“.
Hint 24
There are two cards with clubs on them. Maybe one of these is the “highest” club? Perhaps the value is “higher”?
Solution
Show Explanation

You need to use the postcard along with the cards sent to Poppy Nicdao to solve this task.

The encoded text is written with black and red letters. There are three red and three black suit cards with two slits on then. One by one you need to insert the card with the complete alphabet through the cards with slits.

This way you will find a mapping between letters. In the example above I = A, J = L, K = B and L = F. But there are two decryptions possible for each letter. If you look at the postcard carefully, the text needing decryption is red or black. This means that using the red suited cards (diamond/heart) you can get decryption for the red letters, and using the black suited cards (club/spade) you can get the decryption for the black letters. The decoded message is:

Joker lies but I am your ally go to highest club for the truth.

The highest club, however, is not the name of the location. To find the actual name, you must find the right building from the front of the postcard.

If you look carefully at these buildings, and the other cards sent to Poppy Nicdao, you will find that the buildings have the same barcodes (for entrances) as those on the cards, along with names.

Most barcodes can be matched to a building, but the solution is the highest club. The highest club refers to the highest value card of the suit ‘club’.

In this case it’s the X of clubs, and only one of those barcodes matches perfectly a building.
